Sherry M. Shore advises individuals and firms in the financial services industry and other areas in connection with a wide variety of employment matters. She provides advice and representation in disputes related to employment and separation agreements, general business and partnership contracts, compensation, wrongful termination, defamation, breaches of non-compete and other restrictive provisions, and discrimination and retaliation. She also provides advice related to compliance with federal, state, and local employment and employment-related laws. Ms. Shore has appeared on behalf of clients in proceedings before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), JAMS, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and other federal and state agencies, and in state and federal courts. From 2013 to the present, Ms. Shore has been selected for inclusion on the New York Super Lawyers Rising Star list under the Employment & Labor law practice category (no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in a state are named).


Participated in the successful representation of various former senior employees of a major global investment bank in connection with numerous respective matters brought before FINRA, JAMS and in federal and state courts, asserting individual claims to recover, among other things, unpaid compensation, severance, and damages relating to allegations of discrimination and whistleblower retaliation.

Participated in the procurement of a multi-million dollar judgment on behalf of a high-level executive of Merrill Lynch/Bank of America in connection with an arbitration before FINRA pertaining to the terms of his classification upon departure for purposes of vesting in certain deferred compensation.

Participated in the procurement of multiple multi-million dollar judgments on behalf of several former RBS fixed income traders in respective arbitrations before FINRA asserting claims to recover unpaid bonus compensation.

Participated in the representation of a former UBS foreign exchange trader in connection with an arbitration before FINRA pertaining to the terms of his departure from the bank. Following a six-day trial, the matter resulted in an award of $700,000, reflecting the restoration of his previously forfeited deferred compensation.

Representation of numerous employees and employers, especially in the financial services and asset management industries, in connection with employment and separation agreements.

Representation of a senior healthcare industry executive hired to become President and CEO of a leading integrated healthcare provider.

Provided advice to a senior financial industry employee hired to become chief executive of a payments startup with a potentially significant equity compensation structure.

Ms. Shore joined L&R in 2006. During her first year with the firm, she served as the sole associate on the litigation team responsible for recovering an award of more than $14.7 million in damages, plus approximately $8 million in interest, on behalf of 27 former employees against Robertson Stephens Inc., which is believed to be one of the largest awards in a single employment arbitration action brought at the New York Stock Exchange. She received her B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2002 and her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University in 2006, where she was a published note author and Notes and Comments Editor for the Cardozo Journal of International and Comparative Law and awarded a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant position. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
